The sound on your Notebook might not be switched off. Press the keyboard shortcut Fn+F4 to switch off the ‘mute’ function of your Notebook. Make sure there is a number and not a cross under the sound bar on your screen. If there is a cross, the sound is switched off. You can also check whether the ‘mute’ function is switched on by clicking on the sound icon in the taskbar on your screen. If there is a cross next to the speaker icon, the sound is switched off.
It is also possible that the volume level is set too low. Press Fn+F6 to turn up the sound or click on the sound icon in the taskbar on your screen.
Solution 2: Select the correct playback device
This could also be caused by the selection of the playback device. It is for example also possible that the sound signal is being sent to an external monitor, while this external monitor cannot play sound.
Follow the steps below to adjust these settings:
- Go to the control panel (using the search function in the taskbar or the Windows start menu ).
- Go to ‘Hardware and Sound’.
- Click on ‘Sound’.
Select here the desired playback device.
