In order to use Chrome OS and its applications you need a connection to the internet, however, most application also have an offline functionality. When you want to use your applications offline, it is necessary to indicate this separately for each application. While using your applications offline, these will take up part of the the memory capacity of the hard drive of your Chromebook because you are not working directly from the cloud.
Make sure you are connected to the internet when you start up for the first time, otherwise you will not be able to complete the startup procedure. You will also need an internet connection for the installation of applications and for adding users with their Google Account.
*Caution! By using your Google Drive offline, you will make use of the hard drive memory capacity of your Chromebook. This can affect the overall speed of your Chromebook.
*Important! In order to use applications offline, you have to add these applications to your Google Account first. To add applications to your Google Account you need an internet connection.
